How does the denim fit in the waist, crotch, butt and thighs?

First things first…let me say thank you denim gods for creating a little something called T-400! I am one hundred percent convinced that this stretch-inducing fabric component, partnered with the always fabulous Supima cotton, makes Serfontaine’s fit like a glove. They are form fitting throughout my waist, crotch, butt and thighs, but only in the best way possible. Translation: I can breath, I can move and MOST importantly there is absolutely NO muffin-top action going on!

Where would you wear this denim to?

The best part about this particular style and wash is the versatility factor. I love a good dark-wash denim; perfect for work, a casual weekend after-noon or heading out to a dinner with friends. More specifically, I really appreciate the ever so slight lightening affect on the thigh region and the subtly distressed look at the bottom of the leg. It makes this denim different, but in a subtle, classy fashion. I’ve worn these several times, and I’ve had three different people ask me where I got them and who made them. All three of these people said they liked the fit and that they could tell how comfortable I was.

How would you style this denim?

Like I already mentioned, the major selling point behind this denim is it’s versatility. I live in Los Angeles; that said, it’s no secret that good denim is at the very core foundation of our So-Cal style. This denim is slightly distressed, allowing me to still be able to dress it up for work or a night out. I plan to partner this denim with a flowy summer top and gladiator sandals. Or a pair of super casual flip flops and a tank for a walk outside or a day of window-shopping.

Were you familiar with the brand before the fitting?

I was completely unfamiliar with this brand before the Denim Guy’s introduction. Although now, I’ve begun to notice the brand name more here and there. With such an impeccable fit and flawless quality, I imagine it’s only a matter of time before I start seeing Serfontaine with much more frequency. This is the second style I’ve had the opportunity to “test out” and I couldn’t be more pleased with the appeal of both looks. They were completely different, but each appealing in their own ways.

Describe your experience in letting the Denim Guy fit you? What surprised you in letting someone else fit you for jeans?

The Denim Guy has turned all my denimies into a thing of the past. I no longer stress out about getting stuck in a fitting room, lodged in a pair of jeans I can neither get on or off. Instead, I look forward to having him show up with a bunch of options that I already know will fit. Then it just comes down to style preference. Angst-ridden denim shopping is a thing of the past for me, thanks to the Denim Guy!

How did your significant other react to your new look?

I am a single lady; that said, I don’t have a significant other. But ladies, let’s face the facts on this one. Most women dress for other women, myself included. Have you seen “Sex and the City?” Those ladies are dressing up because it’s fun to share newfound pieces with girlfriends. Most guys aren’t tuned in to fashion world. That said, my sister did actually take notice of this denim and she was quick to make an inquiry asking for all the important details. She may not be my “other,” but when it comes to my fashion arsenal, she is definitely significant!

Who did your new jeans make you want to channel?

This denim had me channeling the queen of effortless style, Miss Halle Berry. Sounds like a stretch, and truth be told, it probably is. But when I have the Serfontaine’s on, I feel so casual, yet put-together at the same time. Halle always appears to look great in a variety of extremely comfortable, chic looks. That carefree aura is something I feel like I’m getting closer to every moment I wear this cut and style. Perhaps a Gabriel Aubry look-alike is in my near future…

How does the denim fit in the waist, crotch, butt and thighs?

The waist on my pair of !iT Jeans is high and secure, which I’ve come to appreciate more than the ass-crack showing, happy-trail flaunting low-rise cuts that were all the rave a few years back. The crotch area is roomier than the aforementioned low-rise denim, which is great, while the legs on this pair begin to narrow at just the right point on the thighs to not make the spacious crotch look and feel awkward.

Where would you wear this denim?

The Studio Skinny is a perfect “skinny.” I’ve got chicken legs and very boney knees, so by default I’ve always used more loose fitting jeans that more easily conceal these features. My pair of !iT Jeans inspired a personal fashion reawakening -I can wear skinny jeans! Thanks, Denim Guy!

Where did you wear the denim?

I did it. I wore denim to a job interview. The very clean, dark and fitted style of the Studio Skinny !iT Jeans on top of metallic grey Stacy Adams shoes (sans socks) was the perfect look for this occasion, as I’m sure it made me stand out from the other candidates who YOU KNOW wore the traditional black slacks and Big Herman shoes. Top it off with a fitted, short-sleeved white button-up, skinny red tie, and a black coat… and you got yourself a second-interview. True story.

Describe your experience in letting the Denim Guy fit you?

The Denim Guys definitely knows his stuff. He was able to grasp my style within in minutes and knew exactly what to throw my way to make me happy. I was not familiar with !iT Jeans before my fitting, but now I’m practically on the !iT Jeans Street Team. If there’s a !iT Jeans Facebook Fan Page, I’m totally joining it. What was most surprising about the jean-fitting experience with the Denim Guy was just the number of relatively unknown quality denim that’s out there that could work on my body frame. My !iT Jeans DEFINITELY work. I’m a happy camper.

On a scale of 1-10, how hot did you feel walking down the street?

10. Red hot. I’m on fire! I don’t just want to walk down the street in my Studio Skinny !iT Jeans -I want to run through grass fields, climb mountains, table dance, etc., they make me feel so good. My energy to take on the challenges of a new day and my positive outlook on life get turned up a notch as soon as I slip into them, I’m not kidding.

Who did your new jeans make you want to channel? David Beckham or Eric Bana? Which one and why?

David Beckham. Totally. The Studio Skinny makes me feel a bit edgier and more fashion forward. All I need is a black beanie, a light denim button-up shirt, a pair of black AE underwear, black combat boots, and about 20 hippy bracelets on the same wrist, and I’m good to go. Oh, and an emaciated wife that looks like she has a stick permanently lodged up her ass… then I’m really good to go. Beckham’s doppelgänger for sure.

On a scale of 1-10, what do you think your new bootylicious factor is?

10. And I don’t think the world is ready for this jelly.

How does the denim fit in the waist, crotch, butt and thighs?

Fit in the waist is roomy/comfortable.   The cut around the hips however seems to be more of a square/box shape however which seems to fit my hips well but be bigger around the waist.  As a result I find myself pulling these jeans up more often after sitting or squatting down to pick something up.  Snug, sexy fit in the crotch and butt but not to tight to be flattening to either.  Maybe a little long in the cut where the legs come together…they meet lower than where my actual legs do.

Where would you wear this denim to?

I seem to be wearing this denim mainly during the daytime and in more casual settings….breakfast/lunch restaurants, coffee houses, etc.  I have had people comment on this denim as it is a different look than I usually wear and the response has been very favorable as to how they fit and look on me.

How would you style this denim?

With the aged look and the distressed appearance, I feel more comfortable wearing this denim with t-shirts.

Were you familiar with the brand before the fitting?

The Denim Guy has been after me for quite a while to expand my style/brands of denim I wear.  I was previously unaware of the brand and actually thought that the holes/distressed look might be better suited on a younger man but after wearing them some and hearing the responses, I am very happy with his selection.

On a scale of 1-10, how hot did you feel walking down the street in your new denim

8…this denim feels very now and stylish.

Did you get picked up on in your new denim?

I have not…yet. J

Who did your new jeans make you want to channel? David Beckham or  Eric Bana?

David Beckham…I’ll need new sunglasses!

How does your old denim compare to your new stuff?

Different than my other denim so not getting rid of the old but adding to my denim wardrobe.

Does your new denim help you channel a new alter ego?

Yes, I want to become THE DENIM GUY.

NATURAL SELECTION ‘By Way of Natural Selection’ Spring Summer 10

One step further along the evolutionary chain, Natural Selection denim creates a stronger, ever more considered approach to men’s denim for Spring Summer 10, with newly developed washes married to the classic Natural selection denim styles.

The new season will see the launch of lighter denim weights, essential for wearing denim in the coming warmer seasons. The luxurious fabrics, from classic Italian mills retain the same, highly prized selvedge identity, yet offer a more easy-to-wear softness.

Design details include 12oz, red selvedge, narrow-width denim with newly developed, original hand washes which push the limits of such techniques range from ‘Done’, through to ‘Dusted’, and ‘Scrapes & Bruises’.

SCRAPES & BRUISES: picks up where last season’s BRUISED left off.  A very subtle, light and wearable style with only the bare minimum of finishing to reveal the indigo breaking through the raw surface.

DONE: uses the lightest fabric available to Natural Selection’s denim artisans and their laundry to create an organic and vivid whisker-effect to maximise three dimensionality. It is the brand’s most striking wash, due to the obvious high impact of a process made possible only through ‘hand pinching’.

Multi-layered and sophisticated, DUSTED is the most complex Natural Selection wash to date, layered with dirt and then layered again with wearing in highlights combined for a true vintage wash. Lastly, the ‘CLEAN BROKEN’ is a must have for the summer, Natural Selection have utilised this in their relaxed ‘loose’ and ‘carrot’ fits for maximum effect. A very light and washed out style for genuine comfort and to capture the pure sky blue of a classically beautiful fabric.

New to the collection are capsule ranges of luxurious, soft jersey, which reference the Natural Selection handwriting. The range of four t-shirts, feature an ‘Alphabet’ print in both crew and v neck, and a typographic logo of Darwin’s iconic quote ‘By Way of Natural Selection’, words which have inspired whole cultures across the globe.

Finally the brand’s artisanal ‘Pheasant’ illustration, a subtly British concept of an ornate floral design inspired by the decorative engravings on British shotguns – provides a background for the iconography of a pheasant riding a penny farthing, a dual reference to classic, British innovation.

Copenhagen based brand Han Kjøbenhavn is launching its second apparel collection, inspired by mid twentieth century Japanese worker wear with a classic modern fit. The collection is made up of a series of styles – many of which are dyed with authentic indigo colors to keep it in line with the first collection ‘Blaa by Han’.
