Spring has a ton of great things in store for us and I was happy to see that every denim line was doing something a little different! FINALLY they  did not copy each other! Shorts are IN for Spring/Summer 2012 and everyone is doing their own interpretation of shorts. 7 For All Mankind is giving women a bit of “Lustre” next season, inspired by the shimmer and glimmer of light reflecting the Salton Sea, and the interplay of sun and water.

Check out the preview below we did live from Project Trade Show last week. The model is in the light pink powdered with a shimmer to add a fresh shine.

We like to show the full preview closer to when product will hit the stores but this time we wanted to give you a sneak peek to what some brands are doing.

First on the site 7 For All Mankind with the a NEW FIT for us, The Straight, a modern take on the classic straight leg that has a bit more room in the top with a tapered leg for a very subtle updated look and feel. Extra special for this look is that the denim is a raw selvage denim.  Check it out and let us know what you think  . . .

Denim Reviewing:  7 For All Mankind, Ranae Short in a 28

For the readers who aren’t on the West Coast, let me tell you, only in Los Angeles could you wear shorts in the middle of December.  Make sure the shorts you’re wearing 7 For All Mankind’s Ranae Short, and it might as well be the middle of August with how hot this style makes you feel.

When I went in for a fitting with The Denim Guy, the thought that he would test out shorts on me never crossed my mind. After all, when I think of denim, the first thing that comes to mind are long pants. But with Johnny’s think-outside-the-box mentality when it comes to fashion, it didn’t surprise me when he handed over the Ranae Short with its signature unfinished hem.

The first thing Johnny said when I walked out of the dressing room was, “OK everyone, Joanne wins the 7′s!” I’m usually not one to show off my legs, but when I saw myself in the mirror, I suppose he was referring to the classic way these shorts fit me. Having owned a pair of 7 For All Mankinds before, I was happy to be reminded of the comfort in the groin and butt areas. And the fact that I could frolic in premium denim is definitely another advantage to boot.

DENIM REVIEWING: Seven for All Mankind in a size 27

How does the denim fit in the waist, crotch, butt and thighs?

The fit in general was really great because of the stretch and lighter weight of the fabrication used. The rise was perfect for me-not to high, not too low. I found that the fit around the calf and ankle was great and I was still able to rock heels with this pair of super skinny jeans which I love.

Where would you wear this denim to?

I wore these to a TV hosting class last night and a couple of the girls in the class asked me what type of jeans I was wearing. That particular night I styled them with cute boots, a plaid button up top, and a cropped jacket.But what I love most about this pair of denim is how versatile they are, and that they work with so many pieces in my existing wardrobe.

How would you style this denim?

I wore this pair as a layering piece, since they are so form fitting. I wore cute booties and a looser fitting light weight sweater with a cute top underneath.

Describe your experience in letting the Denim Guy fit you?

I love that The Denim Guy put me in this pair because they are such a great foundation for layering. I’ll be rocking these often!

On a scale of 1-10, what do you think your new bootylicious factor is?

On a scale of 1-10 the bootylicious factor is a definite 10! I feel a little sassier than usual when I rock these. They are super flattering, and hug my curves in all the right places-plus the fit is incredibly comfortable! It just can’t get better than that.

DENIM REVIEWING: Seven for all Mankind, straight leg denim in a 32

How it fits in the waist, crotch, butt and thighs ?

The fit in the waist was good. I was a bit surprised that I had a hard time fitting into a 32, because I am a true 31 and I felt that the cut was too low in the back.  The crotch fit ideal.  The pants do accentuate and lift my butt.  The dark wash minimizes my thighs, which is always a plus!

Where would you wear this denim to?

Because of the low rise in the back, I am limited to wearing these jeans out with friends.  Since the photo shoot, I have worn them out to a couple bars and two women gave me compliments—one even asked what type of jeans they were. Both times I wore the jeans with a casual knit blouse.

Describe your experience in letting the Denim Guy fit you?

My experience with The Denim Guy fitting me in my 7 for all Mankind denim was great.  He chose the best wash and fit for my curvy body type.

How did your significant other react to your new look-details?

My boyfriend really likes these jeans, he said that they make me look slimmer and make me look good.

Who did your new jeans make you want to channel? Heidi Klum or Scarlett Johanasen?

These jeans make me channel my inner Heidi Klum because the wash of the denim gives me the appearance of having longer legs. I am not tall at all, but these jeans give me the appearance of being taller than I am.

How does the denim fit in the waist, crotch, butt and thighs?

The fit all around is great. I must say that the waist is a little low and sometimes caused a problem when I sat down however I loved the fit on my thighs and legs. The denim allowed for a very slimming look overall which I loved.

Where have you wear this denim to?

I wore the denim out to a dinner party with a sweater and heels. Someone did mention liking the wash and I must agree. The denim is very clean looking.

How would you style this denim?

The denim would look great with a cute pair of flats and a button down blouse.

On a scale of 1-10, how hot did you feel walking down the street in your new denim?

I would give the denim an 8, the only reason why it wouldn’t be a 10 is because I feel that the waist it a little too low.

Did you get picked up on in your new denim ?

I did not get picked up wearing my new denim, but my husband did compliment me in them ☺. He loved the denim on me and didn’t mind the low rise so much☺.

Who did your new jeans make you want to channel? Heidi Klum or Scarlett Johanasen?

I felt like the denim channeled Heidi Klum because I could totally see her walking down the street with her kids wearing this denim casually with a pair of flats.

How does your old denim compare to your new stuff?

Compared to my old 7 For All Mandkind denim, I must say that their denim has improved. I like the wash on this pair much more than the wash of 7 For All Mankind’s I’ve owned in the past. I also think the cut has improved and kept up with the times. The look is a lot more sophisticated now.
