Well I am kind of obsessed with raw denim challenges these days because I get to create my own custom beautiful wash. As you know already I am currently in the process of wearing the same pair of denim everyday for the next year BUT I decided to give those bad boys a break and try a new challenge with HUDSON. Now why would I stop something that I am already 140 days into? Hudson has this new TURBOTECH technology that will me to accomplish the same look in a much shorter time! So I am going to give it a try for 30 days and see what we get.

Hi it is me again with an update on how things are going with my Guerilla Raw Denim Challenge. So far after 30 days of consecutively wearing my denim I have really began to not only see a change in the fit of the denim, but also some cosmetic changes as my own wash is quickly being created.

A few changes that I have noticed in the fit are that the waist and button fly have begun to loosen up a little making it easier to put on my denim. At first the denim was very stiff and at times it was struggle getting in and out of them. Some of the cosmetics that are beginning to show through are on some key areas such as the crotch and behind the knee. I am starting to see the natural whisker affect happening on the front crotch area and I am also beginning to see my crease lines behind my knees.

In my first post I had shown where I put a chapstick in my coin pocket so that you can see how the denim is changing and I have shown another picture so you are able to see some of the transformation that is taking place. I think other areas of the denim are starting to wear a little better than this area because they get more movement and action throughout my daily activities, but we can also see that this consistent placement has begun to alter the wash. Another object that most men have in their pocket at all times is their wallet and I have seen a lot of change take place in my back right pocket where I keep my wallet. I think the change has taken place quicker here from always sitting on it and repositioning myself while sitting.

I am sure that some of the readers may think it is ridiculous to wear the same pair of denim for so many consecutive days because of how dirty they can get, but there are a few steps that I have taken to make sure that my denim is still clean. First I try to hang my denim every night near a window so that they are able to air out during the night, also you can spot clean if you are to get a major stain. A quick way to freshen them up is to toss them in the dryer with nothing but a dryer sheet, use a setting with little to no heat and just let them tumble for about 10-15 minutes. When they come out they will smell as if you had put them through a full cycle in the wash.

I cannot believe it has already been 30 days in my Guerilla Raw Denim, time has just flown by over the holidays, but I look forward to my next 60 days watching my denim transform and I hope you do too! Hopefully all of you come back in 30 days to see how much change has taken place at the 2/3 mark of the challenge! Thanks everyone, talk to you soon, and Happy New Year!

I’m so proud of True Religion! This brand hit an all-time high a few years ago when every single person I knew (and based on the success, a whole lot more people in addition) rocked the very recognizable jeans 24/7. Well, the company has taken a cue from its dedicated wearers and updated the pocket look. These jeans don’t have the classic horseshoe design and instead feature a clean back pocket – yay! That being said, you can catch wind of the company’s All American branding. On the back waistline, there’s an artist flag, plus, the jeans come in a nice deep blue wash. Lately, I prefer the simplistic back pocket versus any details back there (even if “cool” or “unique”), and it’s likely because it’s more neutral and just goes with more wardrobe choices.

I was able to pair this denim with a more sophisticated, silk sleeveless style… and in order to keep the look feminine, I cinched the flowy fashion at the waist with a thin, black belt. And as I’ve learned through the last few reader reviews, most of jeans look best with heels, so I definitely threw on a pair to complete the look. In fact, the Denim Guy has always stated that gals should opt for a heel – the higher the better – and since he’s an outside opinion with no reason to understand that sometimes pain is NOT beauty when it comes to feet, I’m definitely on board with his couture choice. That being said, these jeans could totally fit perfectly with a knit sweater and sneakers or even a tank and flip flops. This cut and color is totally versatile and thus, it’s definitely a good pair to add to your suitcase when travelling… or just wearing everyday! Speaking of which, did you hear how the Denim Guy is wearing one pair of denim daily in order to create his own personalized jeans with unique whiskering, folds and wear? If I were to take on this cool and dedicated task, I might just choose a pair of denim like this!

This might be the most elegant pair of pants I own and ever will. The color and fit make them completely sophisticated and classic. Yeah I know… sophisticated is a big word for a toddler, but I have smart parents. So anyway, they look like regular black denim, but they’re actually a little softer and could almost look like fitted slacks. The fit on the waist and legs is so soft that it doesn’t even feel like I’m wearing jeans. I could definitely take a nap in them and be completely comfortable. This pair of denim couldn’t have arrived at a better time because they scream “holidays” and I won’t be as fussy as usual when my mom dresses me up this year for all the holiday stuff. Trust me, this totally beats wearing a dress and pantyhose. Yes, pantyhose! Unfortunately, they make pantyhose in my size. Anyways, I definitely will be trying to convince my mom to wear these for all my holiday events this year, including seeing Santa. Oh and styling is easy. I like to be like my mommy and wear them with flats and a blouse or sweater.

Loved this review? Well stay tuned for Mila’s review with her Dad Austin!

Hi my name is Wesley and I am one of the lucky individuals that has been given the opportunity to complete the 90 day raw denim challenge with Guerilla denim. I am not too familiar with Raw denim and this is one of the reasons that I was looking forward to completing this challenge, so that I could learn more about this great product.

I am looking forward to becoming one with my new pair of Guerilla Sniper denim and watching how they begin to change as I continue to wear them. After my first day of wearing the denim I could already begin to see and feel the transformation that was beginning to take place. A few locations that I expect to see the most significant and quickest changes would be in the inner crotch area and behind the knees. By having this natural whiskering affect begin to take place in the denim, I will be creating a wash that is unique to my body, unlike denim that is sold with a wash, all of these key wash locations should be fit to me perfectly.

To help readers (and myself) see how quickly the denim begins to change I have put a chapstick in my small “coin pocket” so that we can see the denim begin to form and change the wash around the small chapstick capsule. I have been told that this is another great location to watch the denim change because there is continual pressure and movement in this location while walking and even while sitting.

90 straight days seems like a long time to wear one pair of denim, but when I have completed the challenge who knows hopefully I will be so in love with “my wash” that I will continue to wear this pair of Guerilla denim every day. So stay tuned for further posts and see how my denim has changed as I wear them through the holidays!

It’s been almost two years since that exciting day in December of 2009 when we had our first Reader Review photo shoot. Back then the idea of Reader Review was simply to provide our audience with useful information from fellow denim-wearers. Since then, we have consistently strived to provide information that was insightful, entertaining, and not just about what denim looked like on the typical stick-figure or six-pack blessed model, but what kind of denim looks best on real people.

Season 5 of Reader Review was about highlighting something that really helped put our blog on the map. During the last four seasons you have been introduced to a large number of reviewers, however, each reviewer and each story in Season 5 has a meaning and a purpose as to why they are featured. Remember Hillary and Austin from Season 1? They were the adorable newlywed couple. In Season 2, Hillary was expecting a child, so she did our first-ever maternity review. Well, in Season 5 they are back, and with a denim loving baby girl! This season’s Reader Review allowed us to come full circle with that family, and we give you an insight into how things have changed for the couple. Our veteran Joslyn is still here as well, and has definitely become a denim expert, as she is the only reader to be part of all 5 seasons of Reader Review. And, of course we could not have ended it without bringing some new, fresh faces on board, so you will also be hearing from two freshman reviewers!

Now for some big news! I have learned a lot over the past four seasons of Reader Review – things that worked, things that didn’t – and with that said, I have decided that Season 5 will be the final Reader Review. That is not to say that denim reviews will end on thedenimguy.com, it just means that Reader Review will evolve into a more simplified version of itself, and will focus on current and upcoming trends in the world of denim. It will be less about the production, and more about the denim and the person who is reviewing the denim. By doing this, it will allow my team and I to work on new ideas, and come up with innovative and creative ways to present the denim to you. Since I started this blog, it has always been my mission to present readers with information in a creative and fun way, and I will continue to challenge myself to do just that!

So, it is with great pride and anticipation that I present to you Reader Review Season 5—the final season. I hope you enjoy the posts we’ve put together, but most importantly, I hope you’ll find the information we provide to be relevant to your needs, and helpful in your decision when purchasing your next pair of denim.

P.S. Stay tuned to thedenimguy.com to see the exciting things we have planned for the future!
