Dez Reviewing Fidelity Belvedere High Rise Ultra Slim size 25

I heard the Denim Guy mention that high-rise is all the rage in denim now and I feel pretty lucky to get to review a few pairs. You can never go wrong with black denim! I love it because when I have to dress up a little for work it’s the easiest color for me to dress up. This ultra slim pair is the best because of the high-rise waist, which totally sucks in your lower abdominal area and hides any kind of muffin type you might have. The high rise also elongates the legs. The black slims them and add a pair of heels to the mix and you have yourself a nice lower body to show off this pair of denim! I thought about pairing this denim with a sweater but at the same time I don’t really want to cover the high waist with anything so I would probably go for a cardigan that highlights the waist area but doesn’t cover it. For my denim guy pictures I tried to keep things basic by wearing a colored shirt tucked in to the pants with some black heels. I am really loving the high waist and at first was very nervous when I heard the term “high waist.” I know the news really gave some celebrities slack for the high waist and referred to them as “mom jeans.” I feel that maybe people weren’t seeing the good in the high waist!  What this pair of denim does to your lower body is amazing! I have worn these with flats, heels and boots and to be honest no one pays attention to the shoes I wear, they only notice what the high waist does to my body especially my legs. I love that I can pretty much wear any color shirt with these and my body continues to give off the elongated look. These are my “go-to” pair of denim for the days when I feel that nothing else looks good on me or when I’m running late and don’t want to give off that vibe to my co-workers.

Frank  Reviewing 7 For All Mankind Standard  size 32

These aren’t my first pair of 7 For All Mankind and these certainly wont be my last either!  What makes 7 For All Mankind stand out from the rest is how it’s tailored at the waist and it has that true straight leg.  Not only do these jeans look comfortable and stylish, but also the denim is soft and the wash looks amazing.  The denim felt extremely soft but is made of high quality, which is a rare combination to find in jeans.   The softness of the fabric allows for free movement and comfort. The wash gives the denim that vintage look mixed with a bit of a contemporary style.

I paired these jeans with an original penguin white oxford shirt.  The straight cut was an ideal fit for this outfit.  Plus the appearance is not overly loose or baggy which gives it the perfect touch of fit and comfort.  I could see these jeans being one of those jeans that always wind up being at the front of my closet ready to be worn for any occasion.

Vanessa Reviewing 7 For All Mankind,  Kaylie, size 27

I love this pair of denim because they have a higher waist and flare but are in a lighter wash making them perfect for day time. I paired these with a crisp white button up shirt, as I did for the Reader Review photo shoot, making for a fun, classic, Americana feel. However, these jeans are versatile that you can pair them with virtually anything, from a t-shirt to a blazer. They are also incredibly comfortable, sexy, and I love that the stitching on the back pocket is minimal. I’ll undoubtedly be wearing these often. I would like to mention that since I’m  5’4” I did have these hemmed using the original hem(ask your tailor if they do this it’s so fab) and they look great!

Dana Reviewing Cult of Individuality, Karma Straight, Green Tea Color, Size 27

When I think of denim, I definitely don’t think green… but this amazingly cool pair of jeans completely changes my beliefs! The overall slightly and stylishly distressed finish along with the built-in wear and tear makes me feel like the product by Cult of Individuality makes me feel like the denim is recycled and I’m a do-gooder by wearing them. Oh, and this Karma straight leg cut is literally in a green tea color. How unique is that?? It’s cool that this denim actually seems one-of-a-kind even on the first wear, thanks to whiskering and established holes in all of the right places. Never will you need to be too nervous to cut and snip your own tears with these jeans. I really became more aware of whiskering in denim because of The Denim Guy… in fact, it was my fave denim expert who made me think about how these added personal details are oh so cool and special. In fact, from what I understand he’s wearing the same pair of denim every single day for an entire year simply to create his own TDG styled jeans. Pretty cool and quite inspiring!

Bringing it back to this latest pair on the review, I was inspired to take a more casual and almost unisex style and wear a very fitting trench-styled vest. It’s a bit more feminine due to its sleeveless cut, belt to cinch the waist and the obvious high heels. It’s always a fun concept to mix and match the feminine and the masculine in fashion, but I’ve learned through all seasons of the reader review to definitely opt for heels; most denim looks that much better with the extra length – unless it’s a short or regular length cut, of course. I’ll miss reviewing denim from season to season because we still seem to take away something helpful each round, but I’m thankful for the opportunity to share with others all of style tips I’ve learned through the process. It feels good to basically be a denim expert now!

Luis Reviewing  AG Adriano Goldschmied-50’s Slim Medium Wash Size: 34

I love the selvage denim but I sometimes don’t have the patience to break them in. I want a pair that already looks and feels broken in.  The 50?s Slim AG-ed line is the answer to my call.

The pair I am wearing has accelerated distressing along the front and back pockets.  Kind of like a kick-start to the character I will be adding to these jeans.  These selvage jeans have a great vintage look to them.  The medium wash is slight, but will fade gradually as I give the jeans more wear.  Because of the classic look they convey, you can pull off some retro style with a vintage tee worn under an open denim shirt or long-sleeved flannel.

I definitely love they way they feel! They sit low on the waist and have a slight slouch giving me some breathing room up in front. Through the leg they slim up a bit and slightly taper through the leg. They never feel tight!

Now I know why the Denim Guy raves so much about AG!   Aside from the great fit and style on them I love that fact that no pair is exactly the same, so if I were to get multiple pairs of these jeans, they would all look different!

JOSLYN REVIEWING  Raven Cuffed Short size 27

This pair of denim shorts from Raven marks yet another milestone in my Denim Guy journey – my first pair of shorts! During the summer months, I’m a huge fan of denim shorts, and I have quite the collection, but this cute cuffed pair from Raven is a complete change up. I guess I’ve been more accustomed to super-casual denim shorts, but these definitely have a certain level of class, with the button and cuffed detailing. That said, as far as styling is concerned I was very excited to rock my favorite new polka-dotted tights and black booties with them, and I think the look is very different and cute. On top, I chose to wear a very simple v-neck, primarily because I think the bottom half of this look says enough. I think another great option would be a boyfriend blazer, and some colored leggings or tights (in a fall-appropriate color of course. Not to worry, no hot pink). Yes, it’s always a risk to attempt a winter look with shorts and tights, but I think I pulled it off here. I’m looking forward to transitioning these shorts back into their rightful seasons – spring and summer – and wearing them with some fun espadrille wedges and a flowy top! Overall, what I really enjoyed about the Denim Guy’s vision with these shorts is that despite the fact that I’ve been a part of all five seasons of his reviews, he still continues to introduce me to styles, cuts and items that are fresh and completely new to me!

AUSTIN REVIEWING RAVEN DENIM

Raven is a brand I was never familiar with until I met up with The Denim Guy. Now what’s the phrase…you learn something new every day. That applies to me whole-heartedly here cause I would’ve never been exposed to such premium denim.  These jeans are soooooo comfortable it’s mind-boggling. For instance, I wore them the other day just to run some errands around town and I forgot I even had them on. The Sid Skinny fit hugs my legs and waist like a glove. Just by hearing the word comfortable one automatically thinks of something like pajamas. Let me tell you, these are no pajamas, but they do have that comfort feel. I could sport these to next years Coachella, or on a hot date with the wife. I’m thinking a clean and crisp white oxford shirt is a must with these jeans. However, the charcoal grey makes them flexible to pair with any color.

PETER REVIEWING RAVEN DENIM 

The Vic-slim straight in a clean grey wash puts together a great combination of hues making for an extraordinary pair of denim. I’ve seen a lot of people wear these jeans and I truly believe the line affords a complexity of all different types of washes, fits and cuts. This specific pair is beyond well-fitted that I can throw these on and honestly attempt to dress them down but still catch people’s eyes. This Raven denim is the type that you see other people wearing and immediately you want a pair because the fitting is amazing and it appears to be done so effortlessly. With the majority of my denim I will always rock a solid tee when time permits, but with the Raven denim I can still throw on the tee (preferably white) and I can still look great and appropriate for most events, whether it is getting drinks, going out, or going to a show.

Frank  Reviewing Buffalo: Elvis-Super Slim  Size: 33

 One thing I really liked about this denim was the dark grey wash.  This is not your typical grey wash but the denim is made of high quality and it’s incorporated with 1% elastic. This was the first time trying on a pair of Buffalo jeans and I was really impressed.  I’ve always heard good things about them and now I able to say that I agree.  This are one of the most comfortable pair of jeans I have ever tried on. Not only do they fit my legs great but these jeans are really stylish.  These jeans fit true to size and they fit my body perfectly.  I would definitely wear these for any occasion but seem more suitable for that nightlife style.  I highly recommend these jeans if you want to receive several compliments of how nice they look.

Dana Reviewing Buffalo David Bitton Franco size 27

 Through all of the denim trends, it can be difficult for some people to stay on top of the latest hot look, so this Franco cut from Buffalo is the perfect solution. And since the brand has been around for years, thanks to its “quality clothing est 1973,” this jean is always en vogue. The pants feature a more classic back pocket detailing as well as whiskering in the back knee area, so they seem like your good ole faves. Again, this classic jean is the perfect pairing with a clean, crisp white button down… it’s definitely an easy “go to” look when you can’t figure out what to wear. Plus, the stretch addition to the denim (2% Spandex) is definitely hip right now. Even through three seasons of the denim review – however dozen pairs of jeans later – I can easy identify these as a classic pair that requires zero effort and energy to wear. Just put em on and go!

Dez Reviewing Franco Mid Rise Flare Size 25

Something that drew me to this specific pair of denim was the stitching and pockets. The stitching is somewhat thicker which really bring extra attention to the jeans and the pockets draw more attention to the butt. I have reviewed a pair of jeans this color before but they were skinnies and this time I’m reviewing flares. I love to pair flares with my highest heels because it elongates the legs but I also find that they are very easy to dress up especially at night. Because this denim pops on its own I felt like I didn’t need to over accessorize it. I think you can style it any way but comfort for me is a simple colored shirt that might fall differently on the shoulders or be creased in a different way. I like to stand out but stay casual at times. I feel dark colors are very flattering on my body type and I was instantly comforted in this pair of jeans!  For my denim guy pictures I paired this pair of denim with a basic gray shirt that hung loosely on my neck. I didn’t over accessorize because I felt the loose neck was enough. I have already worn these out and paired them with a basic black shirt to avoid drawing attention away from the denim. The comfort they provide is amazing but I like the fact that they don’t fall off my hips as I bend down and they also don’t give me muffin top. I feel like I’m overly tall in these (which I’m not) and love that the color of the denim can be paired up with so many other top options.

Wesley Reviewing  Hudson Byron Five Pocket Size 34 

Since my first season of the Denim Guy I have been begging to review a pair of Hudson denim, and after all of my complaining and begging my wish finally came true in the last season of the Reader Review.  I had always heard such great things about Hudson denim from so many people, especially women, but I just wanted to have the opportunity to try a pair out myself.  They fit great! The soft and stretchy feel of the denim is ideal and extremely comfortable.  I love the dark grey wash of the denim, by having the very dark wash they look great in so many different ways.  For this review I decided to dress up the denim a little with a light blue and white checked 1MX shirt from Express and a stylish pair of black J Shoes that finish off every look perfectly!

I see myself constantly looking to my Hudson’s and I often have a hard time taking them off because of how great they fit in the legs, butt and thighs.  Also whenever you can find such a great pair of denim that not only are extremely comfortable, but also look as great as this pair you are lucky.  I constantly have people coming up to me asking what brand of denim I am wearing and even more than that I have people coming up that say they typically do not like grey denim, but that they cannot stop staring at the quality pair that I am wearing.  Thank you Hudson and thank you again Denim Guy! It is a sad day that Reader Review is ending.

Jennifer Reviewing Hudson , Nico (Midrise Super Skinny) Size  27

Hudson has been a prime player in the denim world for quite some time now, and they still never cease to impress me. This “coated” pair of Hudson skinny’s is another fabulous creation of theirs. The fit on these is amazing, not to mention great for the ego—I usually wear a 28/29, but in Hudson I wear a 27.  Thank you “vanity” sizing!! The “coating” takes a little getting used to, but it keeps this pair looking, in the words of the Jersey Shore, “fresh to death” at all times.  I’ve said it before, and I will say it again…”coated” denim is a must have for any denim lover, and the Hudson Super Skinny is a great first pair.

Hillary Reviewing  LUCKY BRAND JEANS , Charlie Flare size 29

If you’re looking for a flattering pair of denim and who isn’t? This is it. The super stretch in this pair of denim make the fit completely suited to your body. After having a baby and growing some inches in some unwanted areas, it’s sometimes hard to find the “right fit” in denim. It’s either too small on the waistline and perfect around my legs, or too big on the waistline and perfect around my legs. But, to my surprise, this pair of Lucky denim couldn’t fit any better. The stretch is the exact amount in all the right places. The stretch even creates this slimming effect in the hip and thigh area, allowing your legs to look slender and your waist small. I must say that I was a little nervous of the flare because I am only 5’3, but I actually found that the stretch and slimming effect combined with the flare, gave my legs length. Because this pair of Luckys is flare, I would definitely pair them with heels or a platform boot. To top it off, I would match the pair with a great tan or grey sweater for a fall look or a great light blouse for the summer.
