The collection was inspired by the great American author, Norman Mailer, an innovator of narrative nonfiction, a genre sometimes called New Journalism.
Particularly, it was his literary masterpiece, “Superman Comes to the Supermarket,” which he wrote for Esquire Magazine in 1960, that provided the narrative for the collection.
The colors, hues, and fabrics of the ties along with the classic, timeless designs of the jewelry were a representation of the rich political heritage of the Kennedy family, but more importantly that of their glamorous leisurely life along the shores of Martha’s Vineyard. Their lifestyle was emulated the world over and became the de rigeur look of timeless, leisurely fashion.
