Introducing… a girl in her twenties, a new blogger.

So, I’m a girl in her twenties.  Ok, mid-twenties.  Ok, Ok, late twenties.  And right now that means one thing: I’m going to a whole lotta weddings.  Within the last month, I have been to two weddings, an engagement party, and congratulated 4 friends for saying “Y-E-S” and gettin’ a ring put on it.

Weddings are awesome occasions.  As a guest, it is fun to see the families coming together, feeling the excitement in the air before the “I do’s” are exchanged, and throwin’ elbows in attempts to catch the bouquet.  I mean, I’d never do that, but um, some other late twenty something would.  Yeah, her.

With these joyous occasions comes a need for wardrobe.  It has become increasingly difficult for me to decide what to wear to a wedding.  I know for sure that white is out, and so is anything showing off too much T and or A.  Also, I need to take price into consideration.  A girl has a budget to respect, after all.  But that still leaves me with a dizzying amount of options.  Who has time for that??

I work ridiculously long hours, and I truly don’t mean that in a glamourous way, whatsoever.  I spend a lot of time in my car and in an office.  But, this type of schedule has turned me into a pro online shopper.  I have memorized my credit card numbers (Shhh! If you listen closely, you can hear Suze Orman crying from the heavens above), but I have also learned how to score some pretty good bargains. I’ve also stumbled on sites that I feel compelled to share with my fellow shoppers.  Two of my current favorites are UK based companies ASOS and Dorothy Perkins.  I know, I know. Not only is it ONLINE (aka, no dressing rooms), but it’s INTERNATIONAL.  Well ladies, I’ve done the leg work.  These Brits know what they’re doing and they have one heck of a dress selection.  ASOS alone has 1697 dress choices.  Sound daunting?  Yeah, I figured.  This can easily be narrowed down by style, color, brand, etc etc etc.  But I can say, with confidence, you won’t have a West Beverly High Prom situation, where the Kelly to your Brenda shows up in an identical dress.  You, my darling, will be your own woman.

Here are a few of the selections I made for the upcoming wedding season.  The first two are from ASOS, and the last is from Dorothy Perkins.

ASOS Hawaiian Print Cocktail Bandeau Dress, now on sale for $30.32 (make sure to change the currency from GBP to USD at the top of the page).  This dress is also available in plus sizes.  The bright colors paired with the young, yet demure cut and fit make this a great choice for a wedding.  Who can’t think of a handful of occasions to slip into this adorable dress for?

ASOS Gathered Sleeve Slinky Dress ($64.01) is available in three colors (Navy, Pink, & Ivory) is a light, airy fabric that covers just enough to make Grandma happy, but shows some skin in just the right spots to score you a dance.  Or a free drink.

Dorothy Perkins Uttam Pink Lace Rose Dress (approx. $40) is that great combination between sweet and sexy.  Perfect for summer, and would work well inside or outdoors.  I also find this shade of pink to be a great alternative to white: shows of those bronzed legs without stealing the bride’s thunder.  Slip on some nude colored heels, and you’ll be wedding ready.

My best tip for buying online: If you aren’t absolutely sure of your size, ere on the side of caution not ego.  Order the bigger of the two.  That is what your tailor is for.

I hope this has helped spark some ideas for making your wedding guest attire choice a bit easier.  You’ll be hearing from me again, because you know what comes after wedding season?  Baby season.  Baby showers for everyone!

Until then,

Xoxo
