The Denim Guy

A Special Review from KEVIN.

Until recently, I never really understood the significance of what “good denim” was. Growing up with ‘The Denim Guy’ as my big brother made no difference. I did not know what the distinction was between owning a pair of denim from the GAP, versus owning one from a high-end boutique in New York City. Denim was always given to me and I would just wear it. (For the record, I never have owned a pair of GAP JEANS!)

Now, as a Junior in high school, I am starting to understand why my brother has always pushed denim alternatives on me. I now wake up everyone morning deciding which denim is the best option for the day.

There are 3 denim brands that I am starting to take a great liking to and have asked my brother to order for me.

The first line I want to talk about is 7 For All Mankind:

What I love about this denim line is the fit is perfect. Also, it really speaks to others when you wear a pair. I never paid attention to this until I started wearing 7 For All Mankind denim to school. My friends and especially the girls really do pay attention to what type of denim you wear. I do not see a lot of my friends wearing the other denim lines I wear, but I do notice they wear 7 For All Mankind. The first time I wore these to school, I noticed people complementing me on my denim.  So I guess wearing 7’s is like a status thing, it tells my peers ” Hey, Kevin really cares about his denim”. How do I feel about it? I like it, because now people always ask me what denim I am wearing. I am starting to understand why my brother loves denim so much.

The Second denim line I want to talk about is Citizens of Humanity:

Okay, so when my brother first told me he pulled a pair of Citizens for me a few months back, I was like “um-okay cool, thanks.” All I told him was that I needed a nice pair of dark denim for school. When I received the CofH denim or “CITI’s” and he likes to call them, I immediately fell in love with them. I knew what sweaters, shoes, and button up shirts I would be stealing from my brother closet to match these up with. The reason I love my Citizens is because I can dress the denim up to impress the girls at school, or I can throw on some cool Creative Rec. sneakers with a v neck tee, or even throw them on for a holiday party with the family. The style and wash is so versatile I can pretty much wear them with anything. On top of that, the denim is durable. As for the fit… this is The Sid… no idea what that means, but they fit perfect everywhere and they do no flare out, which is a big plus for me. They are a little long but I like my denim long.  My brother had a pair of other denim fixed for me and they just didn’t look the same. So I prefer them at their natural length.

The last pair of denim is by PAIGE PREMIUM DENIM:

Again… when my brother came home excitedly with this denim for me to try on I was like “fool calm down its just denim!” LOL. Boy was I wrong, and now I know why he wanted me in a pair. This denim is by far the most comfortable denim I own. I like the wash, I like the fit, but what I like best is that the denim is so comfortable. My other denim are comfortable, don’t get me wrong, but I like to play basketball at school during lunch and with my PPD’s  I can do that. My brother said something about having stretch in it… no idea what he means, all I know is that that stuff works great. I can go to school, look stylish, still impress the girls and play some ball during lunch! It doesn’t get much better than that.

So to end this … I don’t know. My brother asked me to write something about my favorite denim. I guess each pair of denim is special in its own way and I like them all.  What I do know is what denim I do not like… LOL. But these 3 are my favorites and I always get great compliments about them when I wear them to school. I guess it pays have The Denim Guy as your big bro!
